How It Works
Minerals present in all water such as calcium and magnesium, can be released into the air by a humidifier with the water vapor. These minerals precipitate out of the water vapor as it evaporates and can leave a white dust on room furnishings. Minerals in water also has an impact on humidifier performance, cleaning and maintenance. Humidifier units that produce steam will lose their effectiveness as the heating elements get covered with scale build-up. These units develop heavy scaling over the heating element due to water minerals and require frequent and difficult cleaning.
Some humidifier manufacturers use mineral absorption pads that sit in the water base, which only have a limited capacity and effectiveness to capture minerals and require frequent changing to work. The Air-O-Swiss Demineralization Cartridge is a powerful device that uses a large amount of granular adsorption media to capture and retain minerals from water. All water traveling from the water storage tank into the humidifier base goes through the Demineralization Cartridge, so the effectiveness of capturing minerals is maximized. The recommended cartridge replacement/refilling period is 2-3 months. Depending on the quality of your water and mineral content, the cartridge may last longer or less.

Remove the water tank cap. The cartridge is attached to the water tank cap. |
Unscrew the cartridge from the tank cap and dispose. |

Unpack the new cartridge from the sealed bag. |
Screw the new cartridge to the water tank cap and replace cap on water tank. |
