Faucet Diverter Valve |
Aquasana’s exclusive dual filter system uses a combination of carbon filtration‚ ion exchange and sub-micron filtration to produce truly healthy‚ great tasting water at the convenience of your kitchen tap. Filters out Chlorine‚ Lead‚ VOCs, MTBE and Cysts (chlorine resistant parasites), and leaves in the natural trace minerals. Diverter Valve - dual outlet Diverter Valve attaches to standard faucet with a threaded connection. Allows both filtered and regular tap water to be dispensed from the same faucet. Faucet is turned on to allow water to flow and the diverter valve pin is pulled to "divert" the water from the faucet to the water filter incoming water line. Water flows through the filter system and then out the filtered water outlet. When finished, simply shut the faucet off to stop water flow and the spring loaded Diverter Valve will automatically close.
Cartridge "A" - 1st stage removes sediment and turbidity, preventing microscopic particles from clogging the filter media and reduce it's ability to remove contaminants. In the 2nd stage, Chlorine is then removed allowing the following stages of filtration to concentrate on lead and synthetic chemicals. After water has passed through the Cartridge "A", it then flows to Cartridge "B".
Cartridge "B" - 1st stage removes lead through an ion exchange process where lead ions (charged particles) are replaced with potassium ions. The potassium enhances the natural mineral balance of water and helps give it that natural spring water taste. In the 2nd stage, the removal of synthetic chemicals (VOC's) occurs. The final 3rd stage is a 0.5 micron filter to remove water borne parasites or cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
Important: Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or with water of unknown microbiological quality, except that systems claiming cyst reduction may be used on water containing cysts.
Installation
Step One - unscrew existing aerator from your faucet and attach the supplied faucet diverter valve to the faucet. If the threads do not match between the faucet and the diverter valve, first install one of the supplied adapters to the faucet and then attach the diverter valve to the adapter.
Step Two - turn the filter system housing over and install the inlet hose to the inlet cap "A" by pushing the plastic hose end elbow fitting firmly into the inlet hole. Connect the outlet hose to cap "B" in the same manner.
Step Three - once all the connections are made and the diverter valve is installed on the faucet, turn the cold water on at the faucet and pull the round activator button on the diverter valve to allow water to flow through the filter system. The initial flow of water may be slightly discolored and cloudy due to carbon fines and air bubbles. This is normal. Once the water flows clear in about 2-3 minutes, the Aquasana water filter system is ready for use.
Certifications and Performance
There are no federal regulations controlling the sale of Drinking Water Treatment Systems and components for residential use. Voluntary standards exist and several states have established requirements for the sale of water treatment devices. Many systems and components that exist in the marketplace have not been tested or verified they remove the contaminants claimed for the products. Some filter system components will actually add contaminants to your water that you are trying to remove and may cause the system to exceed the EPA drinking water standards. For example, non lead-free faucets may add lead to the drinking water and non FDA compliant plastics may leach organic chemicals into the drinking water. Certified tested system and component performance provides you with assurance that the product will remove the contaminants claimed for the system or component, meets standards for materials in contact with the water, has the necessary structural integrity for its operation and advertising claims are accurate. Without testing and certification, there is no guarantee the drinking water treatment system or component will perform as claimed. Click here for more detailed information on the various Certification Standards for Drinking Water Treatment Systems.
Aquasana's contaminant reduction capabilities are 3rd party tested by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) under NSF Standards 42 and 53 and certified by the California Department of Health Services (DHS). Click here to view Aquasana Performance Data Sheet and California DHS Certificate.
Maintenance

The recommended filter change period for the Aquasana AQ 4000 water filter system is 500 gallons or every 6 months.
Replacing the Filter Cartridges - remove the threaded caps by turning in the opposite direction of the arrows. Remove both filter cartridges and dispose of them. Install the new filter cartridges with the "A" cartridge being placed in the "A" housing with the O Ring end first. Install the "B" cartridge into the "B" housing with the O Ring end last. Reinstall the treaded caps by turning in the direction of the arrows and tighten by hand only. After the cartridge installation is complete, turn on the cold water at the faucet and pull the diverter valve pin to activate the water flow through the system. Check for leaks around the threaded caps. The initial flow of water may be slightly discolored and cloudy due to carbon fines and air bubbles. This is normal. Once the water flows clear in about 2-3 minutes, the Aquasana water filter system is ready for use.
Water for Life Program
The Water-4-Life program is offered direct from Aquasana and information is included in the package. Like any filter, whether it be the filter in your central heating and air conditioning system or the oil filter in your car, water filter cartridges must be replaced at the appropriate time in order to get the best results. The problem most of us have is remembering when these cartridges are supposed to be replaced, unless we have some kind of reminder. The Water-4-Life program is designed to not only remind you when to replace the filter cartridges, but also to reward you for using this convenient program.
When you sign up on the Water-4-Life program you will automatically receive a fresh, new replacement filter cartridge every six months, delivered directly to your door, with easy to follow replacement instructions. Also, with the Water-4-Life program you get free shipping in the contiguous U.S. You eliminate the inconvenience of re-ordering and remembering.
As an added incentive, the Water-4-Life program also offers a life time warranty for the complete filter system. Instead of the standard 100 day replacement warranty, you get free replacement of any damaged or broken component parts for as long as you own the system, even if the damage is your fault. All you pay is a small shipping and handling charge.
