Allergen Treatments
Dust mite allergens, molds, pollens and pet dander may be a year-round risk factor for asthma, hayfever (allergic rhinitis) and allergic reactions. Up to 30% of all people have allergic symptoms caused by exposure to the various allergens. These allergic symptoms can include:

  • Sneezing
  • Runny, Blocked or Itchy Nose
  • Itchy Palate
  • Itchy Eyes
  • Wheezing
  • Night Time Cough

Animal sensitivities are a very common type of allergy. It has been estimated that 15 to 20% of the general population has animal sensitivities. Any animal with fur, shedding or non-shedding, long or short hair, can cause problems to individuals that have animal sensitivities. The allergic reaction is a result of  the animal's saliva when cleaning themselves and the animal's dander.

Animal dander is formed from dead skin cells that flake off as the skin regenerates itself. Sebaceous glands in the skin cause secretions and salivary secretions from animals as they groom themselves become dry on the fur, flake off and also contribute to allergic reactions.  These substances circulate in the air and accumulate throughout the house.

Products that directly treat the allergens in your home are another important step in decreasing your exposure to allergens.  The treatment methods should be combined with other necessary allergen control steps such as dust mite bedding barriers, air filtration units and HEPA vacuum cleaners for maximum impact on the reduction of indoor allergens. We have more detailed information on allergens and indoor air pollutants in our Asthma & Allergies and Indoor Air Quality sections of our Education Center.

Pet Dander Control
The Dander Out product works by helping to immobilize pet dander and other allergens and prevent them from becoming airborne. This process helps control pet related allergens before they enter the environment. It is safe to use around children and completely safe for animals. It is applied to animal fur and then rubbed on the pet's skin. Dander Out can also be applied to your pet's bedding, cages and carriers. The application procedure can be repeated every two weeks to two months, depending on your pet sensitivities.
