Maintenance
The RELIABLE Vapor Steam Cleaner can use regular tap water or demineralized water. If regular tap water is used, the formation of scale may build up more frequently depending on your water quality. Higher use and higher water hardness will require more frequent descaling. Regular rinsing of the boiler tank will help remove mineral deposits between uses. Once or twice a year or when a reduction in steam capacity is noticed, perform a descaling operation as follows:
  • After all pressure has been released from the steam cleaner and the unit has cooled, open the safety fill cap and remove any residual water by turning unit downwards.

  • Mix a water/vinegar solution of 75% water and 25% pure white wine vinegar. Do not use chemicals or descalers.

  • Fill the boiler with the vinegar solution and turn on the main power switch. Leave the safety fill cap off.

  • Let the vinegar solution come to a boil. Shut unit off and let cool for 15 - 20 minutes.

  •  the boiler 2-3 times with clean tap water.

Continuous Steam System
The RELIABLE Model T30A is equipped with Continuous Steam System (CSS™) technology. This unit has a double tank system. One tank holds the water in storage and the second tank is the boiler to heat the water to vapor steam. When more water is required for the steam tank, a signal is sent to a pump, which when activated  sends more water to the steam tank.

The RELIABLE CSS™ technology differs from other two tank systems. Most double tank systems have a very basic way of sensing when the steam tank requires more water. Because of this, when more water is required, conventional double tank steam cleaners send a large quantity of cold water into the steam tank. This effectively cools the steam down, reducing the steam pressure and the effectiveness of the steam cleaner. RELIABLE™ steam cleaners equipped with CSS™ (continuous steam system) control the temperature of the steam tank with an electronic probe and an electronic circuit board. The electronic probe senses the need for more water much quicker than conventional systems. Because it is more sensitive, it allows for the pump to pump-in more frequent, but smaller amounts of water into the steam tank when it is required. Since the cold water going into the steam tank is done in smaller amounts, the steam pressure drop is considerably smaller than other two tank products.

The Continuous Steam System has several advantages over single tank systems:
  • Unit produces steam continuously and never runs out of steam. You can refill the water tank at any time without releasing the remaining steam in the boiler or allowing the unit to cool down.

  • The unit operates at a lower power consumption saving money in operation. With a CSS™ two tank system, smaller amounts of water are sent to the boiler and requires less electrical power to turn the water to vapor steam than a single tank system that must heat up a large quantity of water.

  • Initial heat up is quicker. Because a smaller amount of water is turned into vapor steam, less time is needed to reach high temperatures and pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the temperature of the steam at the tip?
A: RELIABLE™ steam temperature is rated as follows:
At the tip 221º F
Distance of 1/8" 212º F
Distance of 3/8" 203º F
Distance of 3/4" 194º F
Distance of 1 1/8" 167º F
Q: What is the heat up time?
A: The heat up time varies depending on the model of steamer.
12 minutes – Model t630
7 minutes – Model t730A
Q: What material is the steam boiler made from?
A:  The RELIABLE™ "t" series steam cleaners are made from 18/10 stainless steel for long life.  Stainless steel is the best material for minimum scale build up and for eliminating the chance of rust.
Q: What is the difference between a single tank, and a double tank system?
A: The single tank refers to a steam cleaner with one steam tank.  When the steam from the tank has been used up, a light will go on indicating that there is no more water left.  You then have to release the remaining steam from the tank, unscrew the fill cap, and refill the unit with warm water before you begin to use again.

A double tank system uses two containers; one for the water and one for the steam. When more water is required for the steam tank, a signal is sent to a pump, which when activated sends more water to the steam tank. Eventually the water tank will run out of water as well, and you can fill this by simply removing the cap and refilling the water container. With the double tank system, there is no need to release the remaining steam from the steam tank, nor do you have to remove a pressurized fill cap. The RELIABLE™ double tank system is called CSS™ for continuous steam system.

Q: Are all double tank systems created the same?
A: No. Most double tank systems have a very basic way of sensing when the steam tank requires more water. Because of this, when more water is required, conventional double tank steam cleaners send a large quantity of cool water into the steam tank.

And since the cool water going into the steam tank is done in smaller amounts, the steam pressure drop is considerably smaller.

Q: How dry can I get the steam?  I want very dry steam for things like ceramic tiles.
A: The steam from the "t" series steam cleaners is as dry as you need. If the steam was so dry that there was no moisture in it, the steamer would not do the job. The "t" series steam cleaners produce vapor steam up to 58 pounds/square inch. This produces very hot steam, capable of cleaning the toughest cleaning assignments.
Q: What is the temperature of the boiler itself when it is pressurized?
A: The stainless steel tank will reach temperatures of 302º – 320º F on the outside of the tank itself.
Q: How much steam time will I have with the t630 steam cleaner (without CSS™)?
A: 42 minutes.
Q: How long is the power cable on the steamers?
A: 90” long.
Q:  Can I use one of your steam cleaners to steam clean my carpet?
A:  While the "t" series steam cleaners are great for a multitude of tasks, they are not designed to replace conventional carpet cleaners. You can use our steam cleaners for cleaning small areas that have been stained or soiled, but you will clean a large carpeted surface more effectively with other tools.
Q:  Do I need to wait for the unit to cool down before I refill it?
A:  No, once the steam has been removed from the tank (t630) unscrew the fill cap, fill the tank with warm or hot water, and screw in the fill cap.  Wait for the ready light to light up and you can use it again.
Q:  I see from the pictures of the accessories that they clip together.  Does steam escape from where they join, and can you get burned?
A:  The parts do attach together, but there are seals that create a 100% leak proof connection, so there is no chance that steam will escape, and therefore no chance that you will get burned. RELIABLE™ vapor steam cleaners are ETL certified for safe operation.
