Bagless systems present two potential problems:

1. Hygienic Dirt Disposal - keeping the air free of allergens and dirt/dust can be difficult when emptying a bagless system. Bagless systems do not offer a sealed method to dispose of collected debris without creating a dust cloud and reintroducing what the vacuum picks up, back into the air. To prevent the release and exposure to dust/allergens when emptying, SEBO vacuums have patented a sealable 3-layer bag. Because the bag comes away with the cover, you can dispose of it without handling it with no dust escape.

2. Low Capacity -  a bagless system is prone to fill rapidly when picking up light fluffy material such as pet hair. This requires frequent emptying of the dirt collection containers and higher exposure to household dust. Additionally, when the air is restricted from moving around the bagless container, the airflow through the vacuum will drop. Less air moving through a vacuum means less suction and poor performance. In a SEBO vacuum, air travels through all areas of the dust bag which keeps air flow and suction from declining and also compacts fluffy material to increase capacity. A well designed dust bag system can hold many times more material than a bagless system.

SEBO S-Class Filtration

With today's increasing health concerns regarding the rise of allergy and asthma sufferers, it's important to maintain a pollution-free environment in the home. Consumers need a household vacuum with high filtration they can trust to remove dust, dirt, and allergy-causing particles without re-circulating them into the living areas. Clean air not only helps to prevent certain respiratory problems, it also means a lot less dusting.

The SEBO C-series machines come standard with extremely efficient filtration systems. The exhaust air has been independently proven to meet the S-Class filtration standard of 99.9% to 0.3 microns (1/300th size of human hair). For particles of 1 micron and larger, which include pollens, dust mites, mold spores and most animal dander, the filtration rate is 100%. Tests by the British Allergy Foundation have shown that these SEBO vacuums produced zero levels of detectable airborne dust mite allergen. Measurements were also performed by SLG/Chemnitz in Germany to confirm S-Class standards for SEBO vacuums.

Why should I worry about Filtration?

The quality of air is becoming an increasingly important issue. The problems of "indoor air pollution" is getting national attention because of the growing numbers of people experiencing persistent headaches, sore throats, burning eyes, and asthma and allergy flare-ups related to the quality of indoor air.

After the energy crisis of the 1970's, homes were constructed to be more energy efficient. While sealed buildings save money, they also shut off the healthy transfer of outside air. As a result, people are now exposed to much higher levels of contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, pollen and dust mites.

Does the SEBO vacuum have a HEPA filter?

Just because a machine has a great filter doesn't mean it has great filtration. Most vacuum companies with high filtration are actually quoting a specification made by the manufacturer of the filter. Their claims do not take into consideration that air can escape the machine through leaks in the machine or exterior bags. The following is from an article on this subject from Indoor Environment Review, March 1998 issue:

"While researchers have studied a few vacuums that contained the high-efficiency particulate air, or HEPA, filters, most manufacturers claim their vacuums are "HEPA quality". We can only imagine what the average consumer is thinking they're buying when they bring a "HEPA" vacuum home.

"New test results presented at a recent EPA conference on particulates proved there's no guarantee of filtration quality when it comes to seeing the word "HEPA" on a vacuum. Researchers found that HEPA filters must be tightly sealed in the system to be of use in capturing particulates. In addition, some vacuums tested had HEPA filters that were so small, they weren't efficient at certain (air) flow rates. So just what can be considered an efficient vacuum in today's marketplace?

One researcher, Susan Goldsmith of InterBasic Resources, Inc., suggests consumers look for some kind of certification on the vacuum, where the cleaner and filter was tested, and whether the entire assembly or filter was tested before purchasing a vacuum cleaner with a so-called HEPA filter.

The SEBO achieves its "S-Class" Filtration rating due to its superior combination of filter media and airtight machine design. Measuring the SEBO as a complete unit gives a more accurate measurement of its true filtration performance. The S-Class filtration standard is the capture of 99.9% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns. The Industry Standard for HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Arresting) filters is the capture of 99.97% of all particles to 0.3 microns. The SEBO C3.1 Canister Vacuum has Two Power Head Options and these Basic Features:

1. Lifetime Belt - fiberglass woven toothed gear belt is guaranteed for 3 years not to slip, stretch, crack or break and should last a lifetime. Power head belts that stretch and slip will slow down the beater brush and agitation, leading to poor performance. Belts that don't hold up under use can be an inconvenience and costly repair.

2. Brush Rollers are Replaceable and Easily Removable - with a simple push of a button, the brush rollers can be removed. This feature allows quick maintenance for brush roller replacement or should a clog occur and fast cleaning of hair and threads that may wrap around the brush roller .

3. Automatic Power Shut Off and Overload Protection- should the power head get stuck, such as when accidentally picking up a cloth towel, shirt, belt, etc, the power head automatically shuts off the brush roll in three seconds to prevent damage and allow easy removal of the clog. No disassembly is required, simply pull the item straight out from the power head and turn the vacuum off/on to reset the power head and you are right back to vacuuming.

4. Power Off in Upright Park Position - when the telescopic tube is vertically locked in place on the power head, the power brush will shut off. This allows you to temporarily "park" the unit while you perform some other task during vacuuming.

5. Adjustable Operation - power brush step-on ON/OFF switch on the power head allows you to manually turn off the brush for cleaning hard floors and delicate carpets. Manual height adjustment dial allows 4 height settings from bare floor to high carpet.

6. Electronic Feedback - Built-in sensor monitors power brush agitation resistance and ensures the proper height level is selected. Indicator light provides user feedback and will illuminate if height setting is too low or if the brush roller is worn.

Warranty

When used for private household purposes, if a SEBO vacuum cleaner fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship (excluding wear parts) within one year from the date of purchase, SEBO will guarantee its repair or replacement, at SEBO's discretion, at no cost to the customer for either labor or non-wear parts. SEBO will continue to guarantee all non-wear parts for a period of three years from the date of purchase. The motor is guaranteed for five years. Parts designated as Wear Parts are: Filter Bags, Micro-filters, Exhaust Filters, the External Cable (Cord), the Hose, the Brush Rollers, the Front and Rear Bottom Plates, the Sealing Strip, the Wand, the Crevice Tool, and the Upholstery Tool. Air Driven Floor Turbo Brush - Brushes and vacuums in one tool. Unit Micro-Filter or HEPA Filter- The standard fiberglass-free hospital grade micro-filter helps the SEBO vacuum meet the S-Class rating of capturing 99.9% of all particles down to 0.3 microns. Note: We do not sell charcoal filters for the SEBO canister vacuums. Because of the significant airflow through the vacuum and small amount of charcoal media, these charcoal filters will have minimal impact on odor control. Additionally, using the charcoal filter requires that it replace the exhaust micro-filter. We believe a quality vacuum is purchased primarily for it's particle capture, which is very important to allergy and asthma sufferers. Removing the exhaust micro-filter will compromise the SEBO S-Class filtration rating.
