Appliance Information
Our appliances provide a great way for you and your family to enjoy healthy, nutritious and fast meals at home. You, as an individual, are in control of the quality of your diet and need to make selections on food that are nutritious, safe and healthy. It is important that you research and prepare meals that have a positive impact on your health. We supply a variety of appliances that make it easy and convenient to enjoy nutritious meals, snacks and foods. You are able to add the ingredients you like to meet your nutritional requirements and tastes. What is most important is that you know what you are eating because you made it yourself!
Food contains energy, nutrients and other components that effect health. Healthful diets help children grow, develop and do well in school. A good diet also helps people of all ages to work productively and reduce the risk for chronic diseases such as certain cancers, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

We know that certain diets raise risks for chronic diseases. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends the following as key factors in a healthy diet:

  • Eat a variety of foods.
  • Choose a diet low in fats, saturated fats and cholesterol.
  • Choose a diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits and grain products.
  • Use of sugars in moderation.
  • Use salt and sodium in moderation.
With our busy, demanding lives we may not always take the time to produce homemade meals with fresh wholesome ingredients. We purchase processed and prepackaged supermarket foods to provide convenience when making meals for our family. These supermarket foods can contain artificial colors, artificial flavors, excessive sweeteners, preservatives and numerous other man made ingredients to help in the manufacture, appearance, texture, flavor, color, and shelf life of the product. Most processed and ready-to-serve meal products have high fat content, low fiber and low nutrient content. The quality of food in fast food and regular restaurants may have similar unhealthy properties. We require certain essential nutrients to function optimally. Making meals yourself puts you in control of obtaining these essential nutrients and avoiding substances that are undesirable in our diet.

We have extensive information on nutrition and healthy cooking in the Nutrition Information section of our Education Center.
